Mining is a priority area for cooperation between Australia and the Philippines, recognised through the Strategic Partnership and the launch of the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.  Both milestones recognise mining and mineral processing development, especially critical minerals, as key areas for engagement to increase two-way trade and investment.

As a Strategic Partner, Australia is working with the Philippines to develop a sustainable mining sector and contribute to the global energy transition. Currently, there are over 20 Australian mining, equipment and technology services companies in business with the Philippines. Both governments are also exploring opportunities to broaden cooperation on mining policy, including sharing Australia’s expertise in environmental, social and governance frameworks.
