As part of the bilateral agreement between the Australian and the Philippine Governments, a key feature of the scholarship is the re-entry action plan (REAP), which allows Filipino scholars to apply their Australian education to projects that will contribute to positive change and development in the Philippines, upon their return.
As Australia celebrates its 75th year of diplomatic relations with the Philippines this year, education remains a mutual priority between the two countries. Through the years, Australia Awards has greatly contributed to the strong people-to-people and education links between Australia and the Philippines.
“Australia Awards continues to be a cornerstone of the Australia-Philippines relations. Through the years, we have supported Filipino scholars who have returned to work with governments and communities in providing a lasting contribution to Philippine development. We also have a strong alumni community who are now leaders in key fields and industries, and we work closely with them in supporting our development initiatives in the Philippines,” said Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven J. Robinson AO.
The key study areas for this intake are public health and social protection; trade and economics; infrastructure and smart cities; digital economy and cybersecurity; peace and development; education; governance and public policy, including civil society, media and foreign relations; natural resource management, including mining and energy; and humanitarian and disaster risk management. Applicants must align their proposed re-entry action plan (REAP) to any of these areas of study and the Australian Government’s Philippines COVID-19 Response Plan.
The scholarship covers the roundtrip travel, cost of living allowance, tuition fees and other fees such as health coverage and supplementary tutorial assistance. Upon return to the Philippines, Filipino scholars will be a part of the vibrant Australia Global Alumni community, allowing them to grow their professional network.
Applications for the 2022 intake of Australia Awards Scholarships are open from 1 February to 30 April 2021. Visit www.australiaawardsphilippines.org to know more and to apply for the program.
