The Australian Government is committed to supporting the empowerment and leadership of local actors in the delivery of its development assistance by strengthening people-to-people linkages, empowering communities, and building greater institutional partnerships. To this end, Australia:

  • invests in capacity building of local leaders who are working towards impactful policies and programs;
  • is forming strategic partnerships and providing small grants to non-government organisations (NGOs) and grassroots organisations, ensuring that this support responsive to community needs; and
  • deploys Australian volunteers to collaborate with partner organisations and local communities, aligning their efforts with the national and subnational development priorities of the Philippines.
