For more than 30 years, we have supported the delivery of quality basic education to improve the lives of Filipino children. This includes ongoing support for teacher education and professional development, curriculum enhancement and development of learning and teaching materials. Together with the private sector, Australia is also helping to enhance the education and training system to better respond to current and future industry needs. With our partners, we reskill and upskill workers, who will be affected by automaton, to boost labour competitiveness.


Build back better. Disaster-resilient classrooms constructed in a flashflood-prone municipality in Misamis Oriental Province. In the last ten years, Australia has built at least 559 classrooms across the Philippines and supported the education of at least 64,000 children in Mindanao.

Education for all. Parents and kindergarten children from the school-less barangay of Bulalo in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao are guided on the use of home-based learning modules by the local learning facilitator, as part of Australia’s support to the Philippines’ COVID-19 efforts. (2020)
