The Philippines is recognised as one of the countries most affected by natural hazards and climate change, with 60 percent of its total land area exposed to multiple hazards and a third of its population vulnerable to their impacts.
As part of Australia’s broad efforts to support a prosperous, stable, and resilient Philippines, we work closely with the Philippine Government, and other development partners such as the United Nations Development Programme in the Philippines (UNDPPH), in developing tools for mainstreaming disaster and climate resilience into the country’s policies and processes, including the improvement of systems for disaster preparedness and response at both national and local levels.
